2026 Midyear Update: Investing in Care Close to Home

Milestones that strengthen local healthcare

One of the year’s most significant accomplishments has been the opening of the expanded Surgery Department, the first phase of a $22 million expansion and renovation project designed to increase access to surgical care close to home. The project is already enhancing surgical capacity and creating a more efficient environment for patients and care teams.

Adventist Health Tillamook also received several notable recognitions in 2026. The hospital earned a 4-star Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) hospital rating, reflecting continued focus on quality and patient outcomes. Becker’s Hospital Review recognized Adventist Health Tillamook as a 2026 Critical Access Hospital to Know for the second time, highlighting the organization’s impact on rural healthcare. In addition, Plaza Urgent Care received a Reputation.com 900 Award, placing its patient experience scores among the highest in the nation. Across the Adventist Health system, Newsweek named Adventist Health one of America’s Greatest Workplaces for Parents & Families, awarding the organization its highest rating.

“These achievements reflect the dedication of our physicians, providers, associates, and volunteers,” said Eric Swanson, President of Adventist Health Tillamook. “Every recognition represents a shared commitment to delivering exceptional care and strengthening the health of the communities we serve.”

Preparing for the future

Looking ahead, one of the most exciting changes will occur on August 30, when Adventist Health Tillamook launches a new electronic health record system designed to improve care coordination, efficiency, and patient access.

As part of this transition, patients will gain access to MyChart. This secure online portal provides convenient access to medical records, laboratory results, and other health information. New self-service check-in kiosks will also be introduced at the Plaza medical office, giving patients an additional option for checking in to appointments. Volunteers will be available throughout the fall to assist anyone who would like help using the new system.

The organization also continues work on the second phase of the Surgery Department project. When completed in late 2026, the full $22 million expansion and renovation will represent the largest healthcare investment in Tillamook County history and help ensure that future generations can continue to receive high-quality surgical care locally.

Connecting with the community

Community members are invited to visit Adventist Health Tillamook at the Tillamook County Fair, August 5 – 8, in the Convention Center building. The booth will offer first aid services, healthcare information, opportunities to provide feedback, and a new children’s area with activities, prizes, and giveaways.

Visitors can also enter drawings for an e-bike, complete first aid kits, and TEAM memberships. TEAM is Adventist Health Tillamook’s ambulance membership program that eliminates out-of-pocket costs after insurance has paid for medically necessary ambulance services.

The fair will also provide an opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare. Team members will be available to discuss current job openings, including several entry-level positions available for immediate hire, and share information about career pathways in healthcare.

As 2026 continues, Adventist Health Tillamook remains committed to expanding access, improving experiences, and investing in the future of healthcare. Through innovation, partnership, and community support, the organization continues working to ensure exceptional care remains strong and close to home.
