Emergency Response Drill Set for May 19
May 14, 2026
Adventist Health and Rideout will conduct a full scale Hospital Emergency Response Team (HERT) drill on Tuesday, May 19, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Emergency Department parking lot. The exercise will simulate a hazardous materials (hazmat) incident and is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to emergency preparedness and community safety.
The drill will involve coordinated participation from hospital teams and community partners. During the exercise, the public may notice:
- Yellow decontamination tents
- Team members in hazmat suits
- Actors participating in ambulatory decontamination
- Manikins used for non-ambulatory scenarios
- Gurneys
- Traffic barricades and controlled access points
Signage will be posted to guide patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department. Normal hospital operations will continue without interruption.
This exercise is designed to strengthen response capabilities, enhance interagency coordination, and ensure readiness for real world emergencies.
