Chad Carr, MD, Receives 2026 Provider of the Year Award
Chad Carr, MD, has received Adventist Health Portland’s 2026 Provider of the Year Award, the organization’s annual honor recognizing a medical provider who exemplifies the core values of compassion, integrity and respect.
The award is presented each year to an exceptional provider whose actions reflect Adventist Health’s mission of inspiring health, wholeness and hope. Dr. Carr was nominated by his peers for his extraordinary commitment to patients at Northwest Heart Center and to staff and colleagues across Adventist Health Portland.
Serving hearts with a serving heart
Colleagues describe Dr. Carr as a physician who puts others first, mentors his teammates and wants to see both his team succeed and his patients receive excellent care. They also recognize the passion, thoughtfulness and genuine interest he brings to helping improve each patient’s life.
“Dr. Carr embodies the compassion, integrity and respect at the heart of this award,” says Kyle King, Adventist Health’s Oregon State Network President. “His commitment to excellent patient care, his collaborative leadership and his dedication to helping others succeed have earned the trust and admiration of patients and colleagues alike. We are proud to recognize him with this well-deserved honor.”
A cardiologist with a lifelong interest in science, Dr. Carr has said the field’s combination of electricity, circuits, fluid dynamics, pressure and flow continues to fascinate him. He describes the heart as “a selfless servant of an organ” because of its essential role in supplying blood and oxygen throughout the body.
A passion for people
That image of selfless service also reflects the qualities his colleagues see in his work. They credit Dr. Carr with helping physicians make difficult patient-care decisions, continually honing his craft and setting a high standard for clinical excellence. His work is grounded not in recognition for its own sake, but in a desire to help patients and improve their care.
Dr. Carr has also emphasized the importance of connecting with people and working together to help them lead healthier lives. His colleagues say patients trust him and value his perspective in their care.
