St. Helena Hospital Introduces Leading-Edge Cardiac Imaging with HeartFlow
Mar 20, 2025
At St. Helena Hospital, we are dedicated to bringing the most advanced medical technology to our community, and we’re proud to introduce Coronary Artery CT Angiography (CCTA) powered by HeartFlow. This state-of-the-art imaging, made possible through our cutting-edge 512-slice CT scanner, is transforming heart disease detection with faster, more precise, and non-invasive diagnostics.
CCTA allows our expert cardiovascular team to assess blood flow and detect blockages in just minutes—eliminating the need for invasive procedures. Emergency cases are prioritized for results in under 90 minutes, while standard imaging is available within one to two hours.

Setting a new standard in heart health
Leading this breakthrough is Dr. Maia Eng, a fellowship-trained cardiovascular imaging specialist, who recently performed the hospital’s first CCTA procedures. By analyzing high-resolution 3D reconstructions of the coronary arteries, Dr. Eng and her team can identify heart disease earlier than ever before, ensuring patients receive timely, life-saving care.
“This is a transformational step for cardiac care in our community,” said Dr. Eng. “The clarity and precision of these scans allow us to diagnose heart disease earlier and more effectively, ensuring our patients receive the treatment they need when they need it.”
As the only provider of this advanced imaging in the region, St. Helena Hospital is setting a new benchmark in cardiac diagnostics—offering faster, safer, and more effective heart assessments for the communities we serve.
Investing in innovation, saving lives
This milestone was made possible by the generous support of the St. Helena Hospital Foundation and its dedicated donors, who share our mission of advancing world-class healthcare in Napa Valley.
“With the support of our community and hospital foundation, we are committed to bringing the latest advancements in cardiac care to our patients,” said Dr. Steven Herber, president of St. Helena Hospital. “This technology enhances our ability to detect heart disease with greater clarity, allowing for more informed decisions and individualized care that can change lives.”
Bringing the best in cardiac care close to home
The St. Helena Hospital Foundation and its supporters continue to play a vital role in providing lifesaving innovation for our community.
“We are proud to support this investment in our community’s health,” said Glen Newhart, president and CEO of St. Helena Hospital Foundation. “This technology ensures our patients receive the best possible cardiac care close to home.”
With CCTA and HeartFlow technology, St. Helena Hospital is redefining cardiac diagnostics—delivering non-invasive, highly accurate imaging that leads to better patient outcomes.
