Thomas Lawrie, MD, named Chief Medical Officer for Adventist Health on the Central Coast
Adventist Health is pleased to announce that Thomas Lawrie, MD, has been appointed Chief Medical Officer for Adventist Health on the Central Coast. Dr. Lawrie will join Adventist Health on July 31.
Dr. Lawrie is a board-certified pulmonologist and critical care medicine specialist with more than 20 years of clinical and physician leadership experience in San Diego. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer at Sharp Memorial Hospital and was affiliated with multiple Sharp Healthcare hospitals, including Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and Sharp Coronado Hospital and Healthcare Center. Throughout his career, Dr. Lawrie has received numerous Guardian Angel recognitions from grateful patients and families in recognition of his compassionate care and commitment to excellence.
As a physician leader, Dr. Lawrie has extensive experience advancing physician alignment, improving quality and patient safety, and leading system-wide transformation within a large integrated health system. He has successfully guided complex organizational initiatives, including pandemic response, enterprise-wide Epic implementation, and strategic efforts to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape.

Dr. Lawrie is also the co-founder of Down Syndrome Action, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome through advocacy, education, and innovative programs. In partnership with Rady Children's Hospital, the organization helped establish the Down Syndrome Clinic in 2008 and continues to support Southern California's only comprehensive clinic of its kind.
