Approximately 30,000 new baby items donated by R&C Brown Associates will reach families throughout San Luis Obispo County through a collaboration led by Adventist Health Central Coast Foundation and Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, with critical transportation support from Central Coast Moving Company.

The large-scale distribution brought together local nonprofit organizations and public agencies serving families across the county. Participating agencies included CASA of San Luis Obispo County, Lumina Alliance, Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County (CAPSLO), The Link Family Resource Center, Pregnancy & Parenting Support of San Luis Obispo County, First 5 San Luis Obispo County, Transitions-Mental Health Association, Mixteco/Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP), the SLO County Department of Public Health and many more.

The effort began when R&C Brown Associates donated an extensive inventory of new baby products to Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County. After distributing items throughout Santa Clara County, the Adventist Health Central Coast Foundation was invited to help extend the impact to families on the Central Coast.

Central Coast Moving Company played an essential role in transporting the approximately 30,000 items from Santa Clara County to San Luis Obispo County. The items were then distributed to community partners at Adventist Health Twin Cities, where agencies selected products based on the needs of the families they serve.

“This is a wonderful example of what can happen when organizations look beyond their individual walls and work together for families,” said Meghan Shoven, Director of the Adventist Health Central Coast Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful to R&C Brown Associates for the generosity that made this possible, to Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County for inviting us into this effort, and to our local partners who will put these resources directly into the hands of families who can use them most.”

Donated items reach those who need them most

All participating organizations committed to distributing the items at no cost to local families. The donated products will help agencies support parents facing financial hardship, housing instability, domestic violence, foster care involvement and other challenging circumstances.

“Strong communities are built through partnership,” Shoven said. “Our role at Adventist Health Central Coast Foundation extends beyond the walls of our hospitals. We want to be a convener and a partner, connecting generosity with local needs and working alongside organizations that share our commitment to helping Central Coast families thrive.”
