Residency And Fellowship Programs
Internal Medicine Bakersfield
Hands-on, diverse patient care experiences
Welcome to the Adventist Health Bakersfield Internal Medicine Residency Program. Thank you for your interest in our program. Choosing a residency is one of the most important
decisions of your professional journey. It is far more than selecting a place to train. It is choosing the mentors who will guide you, the colleagues who will become lifelong friends, and the environment that will shape the physician you aspire to become.
Welcome from the Program Director
At Adventist Health Bakersfield, we believe that exceptional physicians are developed through a combination of rigorous clinical training, meaningful mentorship, intellectual curiosity, and genuine human connection. Our mission is to provide an educational experience that challenges you to reach your fullest potential while ensuring you have the support, guidance, and resources needed to succeed.
Our residents care for a diverse and medically complex patient population, gaining extensive hands-on experience across inpatient and outpatient settings. Through close collaboration with dedicated faculty, innovative educational opportunities, point-of-care ultrasound training, scholarly activities, and individualized career mentorship, we prepare our graduates to excel in hospital medicine, primary care, fellowship training, academic medicine, and beyond.
What truly distinguishes our program, however, is our people. We are proud to foster a culture where residents are known personally, valued as individuals, and supported every step of their journey. As a growing program, we offer close faculty engagement, personalized mentorship, and a learning environment where every resident's voice matters. We celebrate each other's successes, support one another through challenges, and strive to create a sense of belonging that extends beyond the hospital walls.
We believe that the best learning occurs when individuals feel empowered, inspired, and connected. Our goal is not only to train outstanding internists, but also to help each resident develop the confidence, resilience, professionalism, and leadership skills necessary for a fulfilling and impactful career.
Whether your goal is to become a master clinician, pursue a competitive fellowship, serve an underserved community, or emerge as a future leader in medicine, we are committed to helping you achieve those aspirations. We will invest in your education, advocate for your growth, encourage your curiosity, and support your well-being.
