Adventist Health and Santé Physicians reach new agreement restoring clinic access

Last updated: April 3, 2026

At Adventist Health, your health and peace of mind are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why we’re committed to keeping our community informed whenever changes in insurance coverage may affect your care.

Adventist Health and Santé Physicians (Santé) have finalized a new agreement that ensures Adventist Health remains part of Santé’s medical group network. As a result, Adventist Health primary and specialty care providers are once again in‑network for Santé Commercial HMO and Medicare Advantage members. The agreement is retroactive to February 15, 2026, so eligible care received on or after that date will be considered covered under the new contract.

This update restores access to Adventist Health clinics across Fresno and Kings counties, including Adventist Health Reedley rural health clinics and Adventist Health Physicians Network (AHPN) locations. Patients can continue receiving care at these sites without interruption. More information about what this means for your coverage and next steps is available in the FAQs below.

Please note that health plans may take up to 30 – 60 days to update their systems to show Adventist Health providers as in‑network. During this time, your plan may not reflect recent changes. If you’re told we are not in-network, please keep this administrative period in mind and check again later.

Throughout this process, our focus has been preparing to meet the evolving needs of our Central Valley communities in the years ahead. We’re grateful to continue caring for our patients and to provide whole‑person, compassionate support throughout your health journey.

What you can expect moving forward

For help understanding your personal insurance coverage, we encourage you to contact your health plan using the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card. Here’s what you can count on from Adventist Health:

  • You can reconnect with your Adventist Health primary and specialty care providers. With your health plan’s approval for reassignment, you may return to the Adventist Health providers who have been part of your care.
  • Your visits are covered as in‑network. Primary and specialty care services are restored as in‑network, retroactive to February 15, 2026.
  • You have a partner in staying healthy. Adventist Health teams are happy to support your preventive care, screenings, and overall health goals.

Frequently asked questions

We’ve gathered answers to the questions we hear most often. Our goal is to give you clear information so you can feel confident in your coverage, explore your options, and stay focused on your health and well‑being.

Do I need to take any action right now?

If you wish to return to Adventist Health for your care, your health plan is the best source for support with your next steps. Calling the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card is the best way to reestablish care with your Adventist Health providers. Your health plan’s Member Services team can assist with this step and tell you if your coverage or other plan details require attention before your next visit.

Important Note: Health plans may take up to 30 – 60 days to update their systems to show Adventist Health providers as in‑network. During this time, your plan may not reflect recent changes. If you’re told we are not in-network, please keep this processing period in mind and check again later. This delay is normal, and it does not affect the steps you’ve already taken.

Do I need to update my primary care provider selection to return to Adventist Health?

Your health plan (your insurance company) may require you to reestablish care with your Adventist Health primary care provider, especially if a different physician was assigned to you during the contract change. Because primary care assignments are managed by your health plan and not by Santé Physicians, the best way to know what applies to you is to call your plan’s Member Services team. They can confirm whether any updates are needed before your next visit and make sure your return to care with Adventist Health is set up correctly.

Does my health plan require a new ID card or updated information for Adventist Health visits?

Some members may have already received a new ID card showing a different primary care provider. If you received a new card with a new assigned physician, your health plan can confirm whether you need to update your primary care provider selection now that Adventist Health is back in‑network. Your plan’s Member Services team can tell you:

  • Whether your current ID card is still valid
  • Whether your primary care provider can be, or needs to be, changed back to your Adventist Health provider
  • Whether any updated information is needed before your next visit

If you’re unsure, calling the Member Services number on the back of your card is the best way to confirm what applies to your specific plan.

How will claims be handled for care I received on or after February 15, 2026?

Because the new agreement is retroactive to February 15, 2026, your health plan will generally reprocess eligible claims for care you received at Adventist Health on or after that date. This usually means:

  • Claims that were previously denied or paid as out‑of‑network may be reviewed again by your health plan.
  • If your plan determines the services are eligible under the new contract, they may adjust the claim to reflect in‑network benefits.
  • If you paid more out‑of‑pocket because the visit was considered out‑of‑network at the time, your plan may issue a refund or credit once the claim is reprocessed.

Your health plan can confirm exactly how they are handling retroactive claims and whether you need to take any action.
