What to Expect at your Screening Mammogram
Our Breast Care Center team is designed to meet your needs as a whole person – from prevention to diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Our compassionate care team is equipped with the fastest, highest resolution mammography systems available in the medical imaging industry.
Online scheduling is available
We know you are busy and finding time to call the doctor's office during normal business hours can be difficult. We offer online scheduling for mammograms so you can make your appointment any time that is convenient for you.
Safety precautions
We understand that safety plays a major part in helping you feel comfortable, which is why our center has the following safety precautions in place:
- Thorough cleansing and sanitizing of all imaging suites after every exam
- Temperature screening of all patients and staff
- Mandatory masking of patients and staff
- Physical distancing in waiting areas
Breast cancer team and resources
Our compassionate team includes a fellowship-trained breast surgeon, two fellowship-trained radiologists, mammography technologists, breast specialist sonographers, a nurse navigator, dietitians, physical therapists, social workers and support staff.
Meet our experts
Ibironke Adelaja, MD
From a young age Dr. Adelaja knew she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. Her training led her from her home state of Texas to Fresno, where she completed her surgical residency at the UCSF Fresno Center for Medical Education and Research – later joining the Center as a member of the surgical teaching faculty. Dr. Adelaja’s experience working with the local population, and her family’s own experience with breast cancer led her to devote her practice to breast surgery and to complete a fellowship in breast oncology. Dr. Adelaja is a strong advocate for her patients and is dedicated to treating them as if they were her own family. She is excited to share her passion for compassionate care with the Central Valley community.
Jacqueline Annette Hunter, NP
Jacqueline Hunter is a family nurse practitioner that specializes in the care of breast surgery patients. She is attentive to the complexities involved in effective patient and healthcare provider communication and decision-making during times of distress. She is a member of the breast surgical specialty team. She provides personalized care and advanced techniques to meet her patients’ specific needs. Jacqueline places each patient’s safety and successful recovery first. She is a partner in health from the moment a patient arrives until they return to the people and activities they love. “Being entrusted as a caregiver is a great honor and privilege,” says Hunter.

3D Digital mammography
Equipped with state-of-the art Hologic 3Dimensions tomosynthesis mammography machines and a Hologic Selenia full-field digital mammography unit, our team is able to offer superior imaging and efficiency to make you as comfortable as possible. These new technologies help us detect cancers earlier than ever before. Our digital mammography unit is the gold standard series in mammography.
Affirm breast biopsy
The Affirm Breast Biopsy Guidance System has a lateral arm upright biopsy accessory that allows technologists more flexibility to access challenging lesion locations. Instead of laying down on a table, the patient sits in a specialized chair, allowing for a more comfortable experience.
Stereotactic breast biopsy
The Lorad MultiCare Platinum breast biopsy table is designed so you can lie down during your procedure. The table provides 360-degree access to breast lesions while keeping you as comfortable as possible. We offer the latest advances in stereotactic technology. This gives us excellent ability to identify and characterize masses, calcifications and any other abnormalities.
Bone densitometry (Dexa)
The GE Lunar Prodigy Primo densitometer provides our physicians with state-of-the-art information to tell if you have low bone density. This tool also helps us tell if you’re at risk for fractures due to osteoporosis. We chose this densitometer because it offers you breakthrough precision and the accuracy of direct digital technology.
Ultrasound
When you need an ultrasound, you deserve high-quality images. Our 2D diagnostic ultrasound system provides extraordinary performance to suit a broad range of clinical needs. The M5 offers brilliant color imaging and excellent 2D performance to generate higher-quality images.
Breast MRI
Advanced breast imaging technology is also available in the Hanford Medical Pavilion, in the lab and in the imaging center. Breast MRI is critical for detecting breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. It’s an important supplement to mammography and ultrasound.
