They specialize in preventing, diagnosing and treating mental illness. They also monitor the effects of mental illness on the physical body, such as problems with the heart or additional stress on the body.

Psychiatrists are medical doctors with additional training in mental health, so they are licensed to write prescriptions for many mental disorders. They will work with you on effective medication management. Being both mentally and emotionally healthy is essential and will help you feel good about yourself and your relationships with those around you.
