Knowing when to access the emergency room is important. Here are some of the conditions which would be appropriate for visiting your closest emergency room. St. Helena Hospital offers expert care for these conditions and more.

  • Signs of a stroke: weakness in the face (such as a droopy eyelid or lip), nausea, dizziness, numbness, loss of balance, slurred speech and headache
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Severe bleeding or trauma
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Loss of or blurred vision
  • High, uncontrolled fever
  • Head injuries
  • Burns
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Broken bones
