Benefits
Medical & Vision Coverage - Napa Valley Campus
Regular full and part-time employees scheduled at least 20 hours per week are eligible to begin coverage the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees can also enroll or make changes to coverage during the annual open enrollment period in November.
Adventist Health St. Helena offers Napa Valley campus employees a self-funded plan designed to provide comprehensive coverage to employees and their dependents (Adventist Health is contracted with Blue Shield for physician services).
- $20 co-payment per visit with any Blue Shield-contracted physician
- Inpatient hospital services covered at 100% if services are performed at Adventist Health facilities (physician charges may incur additional expenses)
- Wellness benefit of 100% plan payment for coverage of all screenings and immunizations that meet plan guidelines
- Home health care benefit of 100% plan payment for first 30 visits scheduled through an Adventist Health Hospital ($10 co-pay per visit thereafter)
- Inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment covered at 100% plan payment for services billed by Adventist Health Hospitals
Employees can also enroll in Vision Coverage through Adventist Health:
- Individual benefit maximum of $500 per two calendar years
- Exams, lenses, frames and contacts covered at %80
- Exmployees can seek care from any Vision provider they choose
- Vision is a separate benefit from the medical so employees can choose to enroll or not
Prescriptions
Adventist Health is contracted with Express Scripts for prescription coverage. Employees can get prescriptions filled:
- At our on-campus Deer Park Pharmacy
- At any in-network pharmacy (must be contracted with Express Scripts)
- Through at-home delivery
Co-payments vary depending on where prescriptions are filled, whether medications are generic or formulary, and the number of months covered by the prescription.
Medical/Vision Coverage - Vallejo Campus
Adventist Health St. Helena offers employees on the Vallejo campus the option to enroll in Medical and Vision coverage through Kaiser. Employees can seek care at any Kaiser facility:
- $20 co-payment per visit for physical exams and primary and specialty care visits
- No charge for well-child visits (through age 23 months)
- $20 co-payment for eye exams for refraction
- $20 co-payment per visit for hearing tests
- $20 co-payment for urgent care visits
Dental Coverage - Napa Valley and Vallejo Campuses
Regular full-time and part-time employees scheduled at least 20 hours per week are eligible to begin coverage the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Employees can also enroll or make changes to coverage during the annual open enrollment period in November.
Dental coverage is a self-funded plan through Adventist Health. Allows employees to see any dental care provider they choose:
- Coverage includes a maximum benefit of $1,500 per calendar year:
- Preventative services covered at 100%
- Basic services covered at 80%
- Major services covered at 50%
- Orthodontia services covered at 50% with a lifetime maximum of $3,000 (participant eligible for reimbursement after 12 months of continuous enrollment in Dental plan)
Retirement Plan
Adventist Health St. Helena employees can participate in the Adventist Healthcare Retirement Plan (AHRP):
- This is a 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity plan
- The hospital contributes 3% of gross earnings on behalf of full or part-time employees who work at least 1,000 hours in a calendar year and meet vesting requirements
- The hospital matches employees' contributions 50 cents on the dollar up to 4% of gross earnings for full and part-time employees who meet the vesting requirements (for a maximum of 2%)
- Employees are vested when they have worked at least 1,000 hours per calendar year for five years (must be full or part-time to receive hospital contributions)
Life and Personal Accident Insurance
Full-time employees are eligible for hospital-paid Life and Personal Accident Insurance through the Hartford. Coverage amounts are based on years of service and increase after every 5 years:

Full and part-time employees are eligible for hospital-paid Personal Accident Insurance of $2,500 through Cigna.
Voluntary buy-up options for life and personal accident insurance are available through Metlife and Cigna. Full and part-time employees are eligible to enroll.
Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Time
Full and part-time employees have two banks of hours: Paid Time Off (PTO) and Sick Leave. Typical accrual rates for new employees are 7.1 hours PTO and 2.2 Sick Bank hours per pay period (accrual rates based on a 40-hour work week. PTO accrual rates increase after 4 and 9 years of service.)
Funeral leave
Full and part-time employees are eligible upon hire for funeral leave. Full-time employees can take off up to 24 scheduled work hours with pay to attend the funeral of an immediate relative. Part-time employees can request a pro-rated number of hours.
Office Holidays
Eligible employees who work at least 4 hours on the 6 official annual holidays will be paid a holiday premium.
Tuition Reimbursement
Tuition reimbursement is available for full or part-time employees who have been employed by St. Helena Hospital for a minimum of six months. All applications are subject to committee approval.
Employee Discounts
Adventist Health St. Helena provides a discount for cellular phone service with Verizon Wireless for up to 22% off of the monthly access fee on qualifying voice plans with a monthly access fee above $39.99/month.

Health club-related Reimbursement
Adventist Health St. Helena will reimburse up to $75 dollars towards initiation fees at any local health club or gym outside the town of St. Helena. To request reimbursement, employees can submit receipts to the Benefits Coordinator in Human Resources.
Employee Assistance Program
All employees are eligible for 5 free counseling sessions through Horizon Health per rolling 12-month period. Employees can access this benefit by calling the 24-hour confidential access line at 800-342-8111 or by going to Horizoncarelink.com (Login: St. Helena Hospital, Password: EAP).
Additional Employee Benefits
All employees are eligible to utilize on-site car washes and dry cleaning drop off and pick-up. Watch for announcements on when car washes will be held. Dry cleaning can be dropped off and picked up in Human Resources.

Immediately connects you to doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other services if you experience a medical emergency while traveling 100 miles or more away from you permanent residence, or in another country. It is provided by Assist America at 1-800-872-1414.
Social Events
