Kenneth’s Story
When Charlet Campbell, of Jamestown, noticed her husband Kenneth struggling
to catch his breath after a routine walk with the family dog, she knew
something wasn’t right. At that time, Kenneth considered himself
healthy and active and was seeing a provider at a medical center in the
Central Valley.
“They told me it was nothing to worry about,” Kenneth explains. “Once I started seeing Nancy Kerr-Schifrin for primary care, she referred me to Sonora Cardiovascular and Dr. Eric Hemminger, who took me in immediately. He quickly determined I’d had a silent heart attack.”
The diagnosis led Kenneth to a successful triple bypass surgery performed by Dr. Luis Castro at Sequoia Hospital in the Bay Area. Twelve years later, Kenneth credits the care and attention he received with saving his life.
“I’m still up and walking around, and I’m really grateful for that,” Kenneth says.
Kenneth is back to daily walks with his dog and staying active around the house with Charlet, but he has never forgotten about the care and attention he received at Adventist Health Sonora. Every year since his procedure, Kenneth has made a donation to the hospital’s Heart Care program.
“I might have to go back to the hospital down the road, so I want to support the best possible equipment and new technologies and innovations,” said Kenneth. “I’m just happy to help however I can.”
