Employee Benefits

We believe that benefits are an integral part of your total experience and a significant part of your compensation. We are proud to be a successful contributor to our community, and we take pride in introducing a brief outline of our employee benefit package.

Health Plan
A PPO health plan is offered to all eligible full-time and part-time employees on the first of the month following the first day of active employment. The health plan offers health care services at Adventist Health Sonora paid at 100 percent for most services without a deductible or co-pay.

Dental Plan
The dental plan is offered to all eligible full-time and part-time employees on the first day of active employment if the employee has current coverage, with a $1,500 annual benefit.

Vision Plan
The vision plan covers 80 percent of eligible expenses, up to $500 every 24 months. There are no deductibles, and you can visit the doctor of your choice with no restrictions.

Paid Leave
Paid leave is time off with pay for vacation, personal days, short-term sick leave and holidays. Holidays include New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, which are paid at time and a half.

The accrual rate for eligible employees is based on their years of service and hours worked per pay period. A full-time (80 hours per pay period) employee accrues 7.1 hours of paid leave each pay period for the first four years of service. The rate increases at five years to 8.6, beginning the 10th year to 10.2, beginning the 15th year to 10.8, and beginning the 19th year (up to 11.4 hours per pay period).

Sick Leave
Sick leave provides employees with pay during time off for a long-term illness. It accrues at the rate of 2.2 hours per pay period for employees who work 80 hours per pay period and is prorated for part-time employees.

Flexible Spending Program
The flexible spending program enables employees to put aside before-tax contributions to be used for eligible dependent care (maximum $5,000 per year) or out-of-pocket medical expenses (maximum $5,000 per year).

403(b) Retirement Program
Our hospital and its facilities participate in the Adventist HealthCare Retirement Plan (AHRP). Employees may begin contributing before-tax dollars at any time. Each employee can direct how his or her contributions will be invested in the funds available through the plan.

The medical center contributes 3 percent of annual pay to the account of each eligible employee who works 1,000 or more hours in the calendar year. Additionally, the medical center matches 50 percent of employee contributions up to a maximum of 4 percent of annual pay. Employees become fully vested after receiving medical center contributions for 5 years.

For more information, visit the AHRP website.

Life Insurance
The medical center provides a minimum of $10,000 group life insurance and $10,000 personal accident insurance for eligible full-time employees. These amounts go up to a maximum of $50,000 based on years of service. Additionally, eligible part-time and full-time employees may purchase supplemental life insurance coverage at competitive rates.

Malpractice Insurance
The hospital pays for malpractice insurance for employees for work performed on Adventist Health Sonora premises within the employee's job description.

Jury Duty
The medical center will supplement up to full salary a maximum of 10 eight-hour days for employees called to serve on jury duty.

Funeral Leave
Full-time eligible employees will be paid for up to three days time off for an immediate family member's death. Pay is prorated for part-time employees.
