Just as the skills and talents of our volunteers at San Joaquin
Community Hospital vary, so do the opportunities for
Volunteer opportunities at SJCH include:
The Gift Gallery: The boutique-style gift shop
at SJCH is always looking for volunteers who can help customers
find that special item. Various shifts are available at the
Gift Gallery and training is provided.
General Assistance: Volunteers also assist and
direct visitors, help on the nursing floors, the Emergency
Department, and Maternity Care Center.
"No One Dies Alone" Program: This volunteer
duty allows a sacred opportunity for volunteers to give a gift
from the heart as a companion to those alone in their dying.
The goal is to provide a reassuring presence to dying patients,
to give them what we would all want at the end of our lifetime:
a dignified death.
"Angels in the ER" Program: By focusing on the
Emergency Department, volunteers can help ease stressful
situations that can arise from an ER visit, often the site of a
patient's first introduction to the hospital. The volunteers
for this program will offer non-medical assistance to patients
and their families, allowing ER staff to focus on patient care.
