Early Intervention in Simi Valley

Child Development Center's early intervention program

Using a transdisciplinary approach, the early intervention program provides therapeutic intervention for developmentally delayed, at-risk children between the ages of birth and three years.

Once a child has been referred to the program, a comprehensive evaluation is usually administered to assess the child's skills.

Based on this assessment, therapists and parents determine and chart specific goals for each child in the areas of movement, language and learning. The assessment allows the team to recognize the child's strengths and provides a baseline for growth.

The CDC early intervention program team includes:

  • Early childhood education specialists
  • Parents
  • Physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Speech and language

Infant massage is another service we provide to children from birth to age 3. Studies have demonstrated that loving touch is beneficial for children with special needs and their parents or caregivers. Classes are taught by a licensed infant massage therapist.

The early intervention program provides home-based, community-based and center-based services. Interagency collaboration with regional centers, public health and community agencies and school districts is ongoing. Our comprehensive and dynamic program serves communities in east Ventura County and west San Fernando Valley.
