Patient Care
Executive Summary: Whole-Person Patient Care
Nothing is more important to us than providing professional and compassionate care to our patients in a safe and nurturing environment. As a faith-based organization, we are committed to whole-person care that emphasizes not just the physical body, but also the mind and the spirit.
Adventist Health Simi Valley offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including emergency, home health, pediatric rehabilitation, surgery, mammography, gastrointestinal services, radiology and women's services - which includes a maternity center and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
While our desire has always been to provide a full range of services to our community, economics and other issues have forced us to close certain services over the years and to delay the introduction of other services. We are well aware that to provide the most comprehensive care to our community, we must offer additional options for service.
This has been a challenging and difficult endeavor, but we are certainly making progress. An extensive renovation and construction program at the hospital has already brought new facilities and new and expanded services. We are continuing that commitment with our $41 million Emergency Services & Hospital Expansion Project, which is in the planning stages.
As we address a perceived gap in facilities and services, we are also working to help all patients—including those who are uninsured or underinsured—access essential medical care services. This is a challenge facing nearly every hospital in America, and one that has grown more acute since the recent economic downturn.
We value the feedback we receive from former patients via telephone surveys. Their opinions and suggestions help us measure the success of our improvement efforts and implement new programs and practices. Over the past two years, our overall rating of care from former patients has risen steadily, as has their reported likelihood to recommend Adventist Health Simi Valley to others.
