Robot-Assisted Heart Surgery in Portland

Minimally invasive but highly effective

Adventist Health Portland is one of only two accredited chest pain centers in Oregon. Our Northwest Regional Heart Center provides care you can have faith in.

In some cases, minimally invasive valve surgery can be done using a robot. Robotic-assisted, minimally invasive surgery is also applicable to many cardiac operations including mitral valve disease, atrial fibrillation ablation surgery, septal defect closures and removal of cardiac tumors.

With robotic-assisted surgery, the surgeon sits at a control console with three robotic arms, a special vision system and instruments. The surgeon's natural hand and wrist movements are translated by a computer to instruments that have been placed inside the patient's chest through small incisions. The robot's controls can read even the tiniest of movements the surgeon makes.

Your surgeon will review your diagnostic tests and determine if you are a candidate for this type of surgery.
