Inpatient Rehab

Thanks to Adventist Health Portland’s inpatient rehab team, you don’t have to wait to get the therapy you need after surgery, injury or other hospital admission. We’ll help you begin your return to mobility, strength and health before you’re even discharged.

We provide compassionate care, which means we want to know your goals. We work with you to make a plan for how to help you achieve your goals for recovery.

Our inpatient rehab team helps with a variety of conditions, including:

• Total joint replacements like hips and knees
• Other orthopedic surgeries and conditions
• Heart attack and cardiovascular surgery
• Stroke
• Other surgeries and general medicine
• Ventilator-dependent and critical care
• Dementia
• Geriatric conditions — problems and conditions affecting our older patients

When we arrive at your hospital bedside, you’ll quickly notice we want you to be involved in your care plan. We want our treatment to be as unique and special as you are. Because we are truly patient-centered, we want to understand your needs, your lifestyle and your personal goals.

To help you meet those goals, we offer a variety of rehabilitation services, like:

• Physical therapy, including helping you plan an at-home exercise program and get the equipment you need to progress toward normal strength and movement
• Occupational therapy, to help you prepare to manage your normal daily activities after you leave the hospital
• Speech and language therapy, including helping you with speech and language as well as making sure you’re swallowing well

As we go through this process with you in the hospital, we want to really get to know you as a whole person, not just as a body. We will help you with all your needs so you can feel more confident when you are able to leave the hospital.
