Faith in Validation

Any great journey begins with checking what you already have in hand. And we’re happy to have outside validation that we have already achieved a lot. We see this list of recognitions and awards as confirmation your faith in us is well-placed.

The Top Oregon Hospital

Oregon’s Hospital Transformation Performance Program (HTPP) encourages and rewards hospitals that improve quality, increase patient safety and decrease costs. Adventist Medical Center was named the top Oregon hospital by the HTPP—a distinction that came with a $22.3 million award so we can continue to lead our state in innovative health care improvements.

Joint Commission Top Performer

The Joint Commission is a national hospital accreditation program that measures quality in a number of key areas. It takes scores at or about 95% on all—not just some—key measures to become a Top Performer. So we take a lot of pride in being Portland’s only hospital to be named a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures (the most recent year of publicly reported data).

Healthgrades Distinguished Hospital Award and Top 5% For Clinical Quality

Healthgrades helps consumers research, compare and connect with health care providers. Being in their Top 5% for hospital clinical quality is great confirmation we’re providing care you can have faith in. We’re also in the top 2% in the nation for spine surgery and care of critically ill patients.

Leapfrog A Grade

The Leapfrog Group’s mission is to drive giant leaps forward in health care quality and safety. Adventist Health consistently maintains Leapfrog’s highest rating—receiving the A Grade for seven consecutive times. This means we excel at protecting patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Leapfrog Group based our grade on 28 measures of publically available data.

Tier-3 Primary Care Homes

Our interest in whole-person care spreads from our hospital and into the community through our medical clinics. That kind of care led Patient-Centered Primary Care Home program to designate 17 of our clinics as Tier-3 medical homes—the highest rating possible.

Joint Commission Certified Stroke Care

The Joint Commission has also recognized Adventist Medical Center’s fast and effective stroke care and commitment to continuing education and improvement in stroke-related issues. Certification as a Primary Stroke Center recognizes our exceptional efforts to foster better outcomes for stroke care.

American Heart Association Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award

Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award is the highest recognition the American Heart Association offers. This award says we give stroke patients the most appropriate treatment on a regular and ongoing basis. In fact, we’re so consistent, we’ve earned this award every year since 2007.

Blue Distinction for Cardiac Care and Joint and Spine Care

Blue Cross Blue Shield has put their blue stamp of approval on several Adventist Health programs. We’ve earned the Blue Distinction Specialty Care, Center of Distinction+ for Cardiac Care, and Joint and Spine Care in recognition of our expertise in caring for patients in these specialty areas.

Accredited Cancer Care

For more than 30 years, we have been an accredited Community Cancer Program. We are evaluated every three years to ensure we are meeting the American College of Surgeons for Quality Cancer Care.

ACTION Registry-GWTG Platinum Performance

The American College of Cardiology has recognized Adventist Medical Center’s Northwest Regional Heart and Vascular with the ACTION Registry-GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award. This award recognizes our commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.

Top Care for Diabetes

The National Committee for Quality Assurance has given 38 of our providers their Diabetes Recognition, which honors clinicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to their patients with diabetes.

This means dozens of our providers are part of an elite group publicly recognized for their skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care, including in areas like HbA1c and blood pressure control, eye and nephropathy examinations, and smoking and tobacco cessation advice or treatment.

Oregonian Top 100 Workplace

The Oregonian newspaper surveyed employees of all kinds of businesses in Oregon and southwest Washington to find out what their employers are really like. We are thrilled to be the only hospital in Oregon to have earned a Top 100 Workplace award.

American Heart Association Fit Friendly Worksite

We want to be sure Adventist Health fully believes in the whole-person health approach we offer our patients. Receiving the Fit-Friendly Worksite designation from the American Heart Association confirms that we champion our employees’ health and work to create a culture of physical activity and health in the workplace.

A Recognized Community Partner

Being directly involved in the communities we serve is fundamental to our Adventist Health mission. That’s why we are especially pleased to be named Business of the Year by the North Clackamas Chamber of Commerce for 2015.

Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes Best Performer

Adventist Health Portland has been named a “best performer” by the Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC), the nation’s first nurse quality indicators database. Our nurses were recognized in 2016 for excellent performance in the reduction of hospital-acquired infections.
