Adventist Health completed an acquisition from Tenet Health on March 29, 2024. We look forward to serving the Central Coast and to continue providing the community with high-quality local healthcare for generations to come.

Formerly known as Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center

Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, the largest hospital in San Luis Obispo County, is a 162-bed facility that has served the community since 1959. Specializing in neurosurgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, perinatology, neonatology, pediatrics, cancer care and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services, it houses the largest Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the region, the only dedicated pediatric unit in the county, and serves as the designated trauma center. Additionally, Sierra Vista is recognized as a Baby-Friendly USA facility.

Formerly known as Twin Cities Community Hospital

Twin Cities Community Hospital, a 122-bed facility, has served Northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Specializing in emergency care, obstetrics, orthopedics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical, and outpatient services, it has received accolades such as The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for its knee replacement program, the LGBTQ Healthcare Equality "Leader" designation, and recognition as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement Surgery. Additionally, it holds the Baby-Friendly USA designation and reports one of California's lowest Cesarean section rates.

Formerly known as Tenet Health Central Coast Primary & Specialty Care

The network of 11 primary and specialty care clinics located throughout San Luis Obispo County are now part of Adventist Health Medical Group. Adventist Health operates a network of more than 430 clinics with a focus on providing convenient and high-quality health and well-being services for each age and stage of life. The Central Coast provider team is made up of approximately 40 physicians and advanced practice providers who continue to offer the services you need to experience whole-person health.

What changes with my medical care now that Adventist Health has acquired the hospitals and outpatient services?

Nothing changes with your medical care today. You should keep your appointments and continue to visit the providers, medical offices and facilities you always have.

Will I continue to see my current physicians and care team?

Yes, the same physicians, providers and care team will continue to care for you.

Will you accept my insurance plan?

We continue to accept all insurance plans that were previously accepted by Tenet Health. There will be no disruption in your access to healthcare services.

Are the locations or operating hours of any services changing?

No, all medical centers, imaging centers and primary and specialty care clinics remain the same. Operating hours are not changing.

How will my medical records be handled given this transition?

Your medical records will continue to be securely and confidentially managed. We adhere to strict privacy regulations to protect your information. Request your medical records.

Are there any changes to the patient portal? How can I access my health information online?

For patients of the medical centers, there are no changes to the patient portal.

For patients of the physician practices, there is a new Adventist Health AthenaOne portal, and patients will need to create a new user account. The process to navigate health information, pay bills, and schedule appointments will remain the same.
