What to Expect

Adventist Hospice offers:

  • Hospice admissions scheduled within 24 hours
  • Nurses that are available 24 hours a day/7 days per week
  • On-site physicians who provide home visits and are available for consultation
  • Nurses that provide assistance with pain and symptom management
  • Social workers who are able to assist with community support services and arrange end-of-life plans
  • A dedicated physical therapist who helps the patient adapt to changing levels of strength and endurance
  • Chaplains who are dedicated to providing emotional and spiritual support
  • Music therapists and thanatologists collaborate with the team to provide symptom management
  • Bereavement support for families up to 13 months following the patient's death
  • Home Health Aides who assist the patient with bathing and personal care needs
  • Medication delivery couriers provide quick access to necessary medications
  • Volunteers who assist with a variety of tasks such as shopping, light house-keeping, and running errands
  • "Defining Moments" program in which the patient's life stories are recorded and left behind as a keepsake for their loved ones

Early involvement of the hospice team will help patients stay in the comfort of their home. The sooner hospice care begins, the more support and services can be provided to a terminally ill patient and his or her family.
