Paul Charpentier, MD

Total Joint Specialist

Paul Charpentier, MDBoard-certified orthopedic surgeon, Paul Charpentier, MD, specializes in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, total joint replacement, hip and knee revisions and non-operative treatment of treatment of osteoarthritis. Dr. Charpentier uses treatment options that restore mobility, reduce and even eliminate chronic pain and promote quick recovery times. He believes that every patient is unique and is an important member of their treatment team.

Dr. Charpentier received his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. He went on to complete his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction/ Arthroplasty at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia.

Dr. Charpentier was born and raised in Mendocino County, where he now lives with his wife and thee young children. He enjoys woodworking, fly fishing and being outdoors.

Ephraim Dickinson, MD

Orthopedics

Paul Charpentier, MDEphraim Dickinson, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, shoulder and elbow surgery. His expertise includes shoulder replacements, elbow arthroscopy, rotator cuff injuries, tendon/ligament repair and fracture repair. Dr. Dickinson uses minimally invasive techniques when possible, so his patients experience less scaring, less pain and a quicker recovery time.

Dr. Dickinson received his medical degree from Columbia University College. He went on to complete his fellowship at OrthoCarolina in North Carolina, where he hones his skills in shoulder and elbow specialties. While there he was the assistant team physician to the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Knights and Davidson College.

Dr. Dickinson has a passion for volunteerism and mission work. He spent many years practicing medicine abroad. He spent time in Tanzania focusing on caring for patients who suffered orthopedic traumas, and time in Cape Town treating patients with HIV. His work did not end there, we as also traveled to Greece, India and China serving in a wide range of medical fields. He brings this same mission minded style of care to his patients today.

Brian Gould, DO

Sports Medicine

Paul Charpentier, MDBrian Gould, DO is a non-operative sports medicine physician. He specializes in treating chronic and acute injuries, including chronic muscle, joint and back pain, sacroiliitis, bursopathies, concussions, non-surgical fractures, stress fractures, trigger finger, spine osteoarthritis and arthritis. His techniques include fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided procedures and injections, osteopathic manipulation bracing and casting all have great outcomes in restoring mobility and reducing or eliminating pain without the need for surgical interventions. He takes a team-based approach to care by partnering with his patients to achieve their goals for improved health and quality of life.

Dr. Gould is a graduate of Western University of Health sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family medicine residency at Idaho State University. He went on to complete his fellowship in sports medicine with JPS Health Network in Fort Worth Texas, working with Texas Christian University and other local colleges and high schools.

Dr. Gould and his wife live in Ukiah with their three young children. They enjoy raising their family in Mendocino County where they are a short drive from the pacific coast and can enjoy the many outdoor opportunities the county has to offer.

Yoshihiro Katsuura, MD

Spine Specialist

Paul Charpentier, MD Yoshihiro Katsuura, MD is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in complex adult and pediatric spine care, treating patients ages 5 and older. His expertise includes treating scoliosis, adult and pediatric spinal deformity, spine trauma, spine tumors, spinal infections, cervical myelopathy, disc herniations and failed spine surgery. He believes in using surgery only when necessary and in maximizing the use of minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Katsuura received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley and then attended medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, graduating with honors. During his medical education Dr. Katsuura spent holidays in Willits, training alongside William Bowen, MD. He then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at Chattanooga – a Level 1 trauma center. Dr. Katsuura later pursued a fellowship in spine surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College.

Following his fellowship, Dr. Katsuura joined the spine surgery faculty at both Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Medical College and cared for patients in the New York metropolitan area. Moving back to California and fulfilling his dream, Dr. Katsuura is the medical director of spine surgery at Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital. He was fortunate to bring his expert team with him from NYC to deliver world-class care to Mendocino County.
