PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
- Analyzes and validates CPT-4, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes on all charges submitted by providers
- Processes daily charge tickets, ensures accurate census count, estimates daily charges per provider
- Prepares accounts for billing to all third party payers including Medicare, Medi-Cal, Worker’s Compensation, Managed Care, Commercial, etc. according to Rural Health Clinic guidelines
- Performs tasks as necessary to ensure the accurate, timely resolution of patient accounts in accordance with NCFHC/MCDH and Federal established procedures
- Assists patients and their representatives in a professional manner by providing accurate information and identifying problems needing resolution
- Processes refunds in a timely manner
- Identifies and reports system updates to the Business Office Manager in a timely fashion
- Accurately documents all patient account activity
- Prepares late charges, updating payer information, and resubmitting claims in a timely fashion, as required
- Reviews and responds to remittance advice denials, short-pays, suspends, etc. in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two years prior experience in billing and collections in an RHC, FQHC, or hospital setting
- Two years prior experience in completion of UB04 and HCFA 1512 forms in accordance to Federal Government programs (Medicare), as well as all State and Commercial third party payers
- Extensive knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, UB04 revenue coding, modifiers Rural Health Clinic preferred
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team member by enhancing team effectiveness by supporting team members within the Business Office and the organization
- Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical computations
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand and follow instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Working knowledge of the use and applications of computers (preferably Microsoft Excel and Word)
- Ability to operate computer 10-key pad by touch
- Ability to communicate in Spanish highly desirable
- Capable of performing position related physical requirements
- NextGen experience preferred.
