HOUSE SUPERVISOR
NURSING ADMINISTRATION
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
- Supervises and coordinates the delivery of patient care for all nursing units during an assigned shift
- Designee for Administration and acts as Senior Hospital Officer after hours and on holidays
- Temporary Emergency Incident Commander during internal/external disasters after hours and on holidays, and in the temporary absence of Administration
- Ensures the safe and timely delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and regulatory clinical policies and procedures
- Actively supports and promotes a professional practice model that encourages staff and patient participation in constant improvement of patient care
- Serves as point person for staff to communicate with Administration in the chain of command
- Serves as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care
- Interfaces with patients and families to ensure that care is consistent with their expectations across organizational lines
- Serves as professional role model and mentor to staff by responding positively to change and supports the staff through change processes
- Maintains required documentation, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes, ensures compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, and the environment
- Holds staff accountable to performance standards and participates in recruitment, training, discipline, and performance evaluation activities including terminations
- Assists in resolving charge discrepancies as directed
- Performs other related duties and tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of accredited school of registered nursing
- Current California licensure as Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of professionalism, open support of the hospital administration and competency in their field
- Minimum five years recent direct patient care experience in an acute care Medical/Surgical or Intensive Care Unit setting required
- Current CPR certification
- ACLS and NRP certifications required; certification within six months of hire may be substituted at discretion of Chief of Patient Care Services
- Capable of performing position related physical requirements
