MEDICAL ASSISTANT, Full-Time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Rate: $17.514-$22.980
PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
- Greets patients and orients them to the NCFHC intake procedure if necessary
- Obtains/records vital signs; Records chief complaint; Updates allergy and medication information Obtains appropriate specimens from patient; Ensures patient biographical information is correct; Ensures complete and accurate documentation in the patient’s electronic medical record
- Performs phlebotomy, if certified
- Performs procedures as ordered by providers and as outlined in the NCFHC Policy and Procedure Manual
- Assists licensed staff in performing various treatment procedures
- Ensures that exam rooms and intake equipment are clean and available
- Maintains a sufficient and non-expired stock of supplies, forms and medications in exam rooms, supply room and/or labs, properly disposing of outdated supplies and medications
- Assists as needed in obtaining prior authorizations and fulfilling prescription requests
- Answers phones, responds to phone messages, routes test results and other documentation as needed
- Assist providers in setting up and completing appointments for on-site, telephone or video visits
- Maintains awareness of clinic flow and reacts when necessary to improve flow.
- Maintains required log books throughout the NCFHC
- Follows established clinic policies and procedures, including confidentiality requirements as set forth by HIPAA and MCDH
- Supports an environment of teamwork, professional communication, excellent “customer service” and efficiency, in part by appropriately reporting patient and/or coworker issues to supervisor or practice administrator
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification of completion from a Medical Assistant training program and/or medical office work
experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinic setting preferred.
- Proof of training to administer IM, SQ, and Inhaled Meds preferred
- Current CPR certification required
- Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of professionalism and competency
- Ability to communicate in Spanish highly desirable
- Capable of performing position related physical requirements
