PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:

Performs radiographic exams limited to Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA)

Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures to them

Follows strict guidelines about the usage of radiographic equipment

  • Coordinates modality workflow by matching up requisition, accompanying paperwork and notifying technologist
  • Reviews and proofreads outpatient schedules and orders for the Technologists
  • Contacts providers for corrected or amended orders via phone, fax, or email
  • Consistently prepares and maintains imaging dressing rooms for cleanliness and neatness
  • Performs billing processes correctly and accurately
  • Utilizes the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) for exam record images & storage
  • Uses the Meditech and PACS to serve the clinical needs of the patient and fiscal needs of the Department
  • Effectively and courteously assists patients both in person and by telephone
  • Accurately performs medical record activities for registration and procedure scheduling, and database and film library maintenance
  • Assists Radiologist (and referring and visiting physicians) with locating case files
  • Prioritizes multiple activities to maintain efficient workflow
  • Maintains equipment, work area, and adequate supplies
  • Copies films, burns exams to CDs, and pulls up reports when necessary
  • Provides information for billing corrections and audits
  • Performs other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current California Limited Permit-Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current BLS certification; or become BLS certified within 30 days of hire
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedural based protocols preferred
  • Minimum two year clerical experience in a medical or dental office setting
  • Proficient in use of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Working knowledge of the use and application of computers
  • Capable of performing position related physical requirements
