  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills; including computer proficiency to include facility computerized systems.
  • Possess strong team leadership, organizational, interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Demonstrates understanding and compliance with regulatory agency requirements and survey readiness standards.
  • Leads the planning of care and implementation of the nursing process according to AORN, The Joint Commission, and CDPH standards.
  • Assists in monitoring and developing competencies, policies and procedures.
  • Effectively obtains, manages, analyzes, and utilizes data to improve patient outcomes.
  • Oversees implementation and participation of performance improvement programs.
  • Provides staff training and assistance, including preceptorships.
  • Manages patient through-put throughout Surgical Services with coordination of Outpatient Services, including but not limited to sending for patients in appropriate time, motivating department members to provide effective case starts and turnovers, alerting staff, anesthesia and surgeons of schedule changes that are pertinent to moving forward with surgery schedule, follows bumping policy when necessary.
  • Coordinates department staffing component: assists with staff scheduling, allowing for PTO and employee breaks and lunches, while maintaining effective staffing to meet department needs.
  • Assists with call schedule and provides essential coverage for OR; provides coverage for sick calls, including call shift, when necessary.
  • Effectively utilizes resources and time in order to plan and perform nursing care and other assigned duties, including but not limited to: preparing unit for next day’s schedule, overseeing the stocking of the unit, conducting frequent rounding on the unit and staff assignments.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility of department: monitors supply availability and utilization, ensure staff are checking for outdates, assists department leadership with budget management, support staff accountability for charting accuracy and appropriately documentation of utilization charges.
  • Identifies staff development needs and coordinates education through Nurse Manager and Staff Development.


  • Graduate of accredited school of registered nursing.
  • Current California RN license.
  • Current ACLS and BLS required.
  • Current PALS preferred.
  • Previous experience in perioperative services first line leadership experience preferred.
  • Minimum five years RN experience with direct patient care experience in intraoperative setting preferred.
  • Moderate Sedation, GI, and patient recovery experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of professionalism and competency in their field.
  • CNOR highly desirable.
  • Capable of performing position related physical requirements.
