Therapy & surgery to relieve your hip pain

The hip is one of the main weight-bearing joints in your body. While hip pain can be caused by deformity or by direct injury — like trauma or a sports injury — the most common cause of hip pain is osteoarthritis (OA), also known as degenerative joint disease (DJD).

Have you not experienced adequate results from medication and other treatments? Our hip specialists may be able to guide you to a treatment or procedure that can give you the pain relief you’ve been seeking.

Total hip replacement surgery is a procedure to remove the worn-out hip joint (ball and socket) and replace them with new, prosthetic implants. Prosthetic joint implants are connected to the pelvis and thigh bone, creating a new ball and socket. The damaged cartilage, bone and bone spurs are removed, while the ligaments, tendons and muscles are preserved for mobility and function.

There are a few ways to do this surgery. Options include the traditional and the anterior hip approach.

A fractured hip may be surgically repaired or replaced to regain stability and mobility for walking and other weight-bearing activities. Arthroscopic hip surgery may be done to repair or remove torn cartilage or bone spurs. Our specialists are experts at caring for patients.
