Clavicle Fractures
A fracture of the clavicle causes pain and swelling in the collarbone area.
Distal Radius (Wrist) Fractures
A distal radius fracture is usually caused by a fall on the outstretched hand. There is immediate pain and swelling in the wrist.
Finger Fractures
Many finger fractures occur due to crushing or wrenching the finger away from the palm. There is usually immediate pain and swelling.
Humerus Shaft Fractures
A fracture of the humeral shaft causes pain in the upper arm. You will probably not be able to raise the arm and the arm will have a tendency to flop and bend.
Metacarpal Fractures of the Hand
A metacarpal fracture can occur in a multitude of ways: a fall on the outstretched hand, a crushing injury, or hitting an object with your fist.
Olecranon (Elbow) Fractures
An olecranon fracture is usually caused by a fall directly on the elbow. There is immediate pain in the elbow area.
Proximal Humerus (Shoulder) Fractures
A fracture of the proximal humerus causes pain in the shoulder area. You will probably not be able to raise the arm. There is usually bleeding into the tissues around the shoulder.
Radial Head (Elbow)Fractures
A radial head fracture is usually caused by a fall on the outstretched hand. The force is transferred from the hand through the forearm to the elbow.
Thumb Metacarpal Fractures
A thumb metacarpal fracture can occur in a multitude of ways: a fall on the outstretched hand, a crushing injury or suffering and injury that wrenches the thumb away from the palm.
