UNGala 2020 Raises $1 Million

It was a breezy, pleasant evening, perfect for a drive-in movie, waving to friends, and some popcorn. That’s how the Adventist Health Glendale Foundation and a few hundred of our sponsors, donors and friends spent the evening of August 5, 2020.

In the wake of COVID-19 and being unable to hold a traditional gala, the AHGL Foundation team banded together and created the UNGala, a truly unique and exciting drive-in event. Guests enjoyed a short program dedicated to our very special honorees, Dr. Ronald S. and Mrs. Georgiana Wu, before settling down for a drive-in movie and snacks, all from the safety of their own cars.

“I want to say a very special thanks to all our sponsors and donors who gave so generously to this special event, especially during the hard times that COVID-19 has brought upon us,” said Irene Bourdon, president of the AHGL Foundation. “I especially want to recognize Dr. and Mrs. Wu for their extraordinary service to this medical center. We are a state-of-the-art facility in part because of Dr. Wu’s dedication and expertise, and Georgiana’s selfless spirit.”

This year’s UNGala raised more than $1 million, which will go toward purchasing a new CT scanner for the medical center, help fund our COVID-19 efforts, and support additional areas where funds are most needed.
