Rapid Response Fund Impact

God's grace full circle: Disaster victims’ stories of recovery and hope

After the fireThe Adventist Health Rapid Response Fund helps associates and communities impacted by devastating disasters across our system, including the California wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. By giving to this fund, our associates help to ensure our team of health care heroes receive the critical support they need.

Recently the Rapid Response Fund committee received an extra special donation, from an associate impacted by the 2018 Camp Fire. The note read:

We were impacted by the Camp Fire in 2018. Adventist Health generously blessed us with money from the Rapid Response Fund. Our life has stabilized, repairs are almost done, we are moving forward & want to help our associates who are now suffering. Please accept this on behalf of those who are in need. It is God’s grace full circle. Sincerely, [a grateful associate]

God's grace full circle. These are the perfect words to describe a generous donation given to those displaced by the Glass Fire, by an associate who received help during the 2018 Camp fire.

Thank you to our donors, who continue to bless our health care heroes with love and support when they need it most.

"Words cannot adequately express how thankful I am for the kindness and substantial donation given to me after I lost my home and all of its contents in the Glass Fire. It helped to lift the heavy burden of replacing many of the items lost and getting back on my feet after such a loss. I am so lucky to be part of a company and community that is so generous and truly cares about the well-being of its staff. You are all angels."

"However many times we are alerted with Red Flag warnings and are evacuated from our homes, the threat of loss still seemed too sad to be likely. I still thought so, however fearful I was after just returning home after evacuating patients from my home unit a few short weeks earlier. My guard had just come down again just as the Glass Fire started, and so did my home. Despite my grief, I am so touched by the thoughtfulness of the donors, coworkers, staff, and the Adventist Health Organization as a whole. Although I have lost more than I ever thought I could, I have hope for what is ahead and I have all of you to thank for that. I am so blessed to be a part of this organization and grateful for every prayer and every ounce of support."

Kincade Fire and Power Outages of 2019

In October 2019, associates in Adventist Health were impacted by both the Kincade Fire and rolling PG&E outages across the power grid. Facing wildfires on multiple fronts fueled by historic high winds, the Kincade Fire forced the evacuation of 190,000 residents in Sonoma County and ultimately burned 77,758 acres. This blaze, along with the compounding effects of power outages, caused severe interruption to the lives of our associates and distressed our system. Through the Rapid Response Fund we worked closely with those impacted to address needs immediately and offer a helping hand.
