Class is 2 days for completion of both parts 1 & 2.

Basic EKG Interpretation class is for the beginner who has no previous EKG experience or the clinician who has some EKG training, but would like a better understanding of the fundamentals of EKG interpretation. This 16-hour class covers basic cardiac anatomy and physiology and single lead interpretation of EKG rhythms with a 20-strip final examination to evaluate competency at the end of Day 2.

  • Basic Cardiac Anatomy and Physiology
  • EKG Tracing Basics
    • Lead Placement / View
    • Measuring Time
    • Wave Identification & significance (P, Q, R, S, T, U)
    • Naming a Rhythm
  • Natural Pacemaker Rhythms
    • Sinus Rhythms
    • Atrial Rhythms
    • Junctional Rhythms
    • Ventricular Rhythms
  • Practice!!!

Basic EKG Day 2

  • Heart Blocks
    • 1st degree
    • 2nd degree
      • Type 1 (Wenckebach)
      • Type 2 (Mobitz 2)
    • 3rd degree (Complete Heart Block)
  • Enrichment
    • External or Implanted Pacemakers
    • Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome (WPW)
  • Class Practice Strips
  • More Practice!!!
  • Final Exam
