“Joan Shackleford was so sweet to go pray with my mom before surgery for me. This was during No Visitors Restriction due to COVID. It was such a blessing she did this for our family. What an example of Living God's Love!!”

  • Adventist Health Bakersfield after hours administrators in ER

“Every time I have gone after hours during the week to the ER I have always been greeted and discharged by the same 3-4 girls at night, even though they are obviously doing way more work than the few of them can handle, I have never waited for any one of them, they are always quick to drop what they are doing and help me or acknowledge me. Which is so important in customer service. I have come during different times of the day and I prefer to come later at night. Even the nurses seem happier at this time. Thank you girls and nurse at night! You guys are appreciated more than you know.”

  • Castle Medical Center

“They were so awesome about going through everything with me, the nurse and the doctor. Everything is so amazing there. Such a scary situation and with no family able to come, it makes it even harder. Everyone is so amazing and so nice. All my nurse were above and beyond. From walking with me, to sitting with me, and talking during the night. My nurse gave me a hug the first night when I needed some support. Everyone was amazing.”

“Jane and I have both had surgery at Adventist Health Portland within the recent past and couldn’t be more positive about the care we received. Even though it was like coming home to people you knew and trusted, it was still surgery. AH-P has a great team and we can attest that you are continuing to meet the mission. Even in this very challenging time you are the ones making a huge difference. Thank you for being there.”

  • The ultimate gift from Simi Valley ICU/CCU

“I have a different perspective of medical workers this year. I have always appreciated the work they do, been through lots of scenarios where family have been taken care of by them, and released home to go back to the silliness of life. But this year, I am thankful for them in a different way. This year I appreciate like no other, the grace and kindness with which they helped my father make his transition to heaven. These nurses, who didn't know him at all, spent time with him in his room, held his hand, and prayed with him. They talked to him like he was their family, and worked on his body, trying to help him win the fight when his body was fighting them. They were so extremely patient with his family who could not be with him and they made a lonely situation better for him. So today I thank all the staff of Adventist Health Simi Valley, and all medical staff who have to do the hardest thing there is, which is to help a patient die with grace and dignity and staying by their side so they know they are not alone. That is a kindness we will never be able to re-pay ... but thank you to all of the staff that have to do it each and every day. You are the angels of this world.”

“I just had a baby during this pandemic, and it was beyond nerve wracking. I wanted to give a big thank you to the doctors and nurses in the family birth place who made our experience so wonderful (considering). They were so kind and caring and made me feel like I wasn’t a bother whenever I asked for something. They made me smile and got to know me and my family (even our daughter who couldn’t be there). Overall, thank you for making it memorable for the right reasons, and not just because of the pandemic we are in.”
