How Your Gifts Have Helped

Charitable gifts have done extraordinary things over the past six years at Adventist Health Clear Lake.

New Emergency Department

Our Emergency Department is on the frontlines of care here in Lake County. In 2013, we debuted a new, state-of-the-art Emergency Department. With twelve private rooms, special monitoring beds, and an expanded waiting area for extended families, our ability to treat patients doubled.

Approximately 75% of the patients we admit to Adventist Health Clear Lake arrive through our Emergency Department. In fact, our Emergency Department sees about 22,000 patients each year—nearly the same number of patients of Virginia Mason’s Emergency Department, a 336 bed metropolitan medical center in Seattle, Washington!

Our Emergency Department Expansion project was made possible by donors in our community who stepped forward and invested in local healthcare. Whether you purchased a brick that graces the entryway to our Emergency Department, contributed to our golf tournament, attended our Cirque Du SoLake event, or partnered with us on a grand scale, we thank you for believing in us and in our ability to provide phenomenal care to our patients.

Employee Giving

Our employees are some of our biggest advocates. They grasp the power of philanthropy and invest in their own workplace to an astonishing degree. Over the past several years, employees have funded “Opportunity Knocks,” an employee-directed fund that is allocated twice a year through an all-employee committee. Departments and medical offices apply for Opportunity Knocks funding to implement innovative new technology/ services/programs that fall outside of the hospital’s operating budget capabilities. The Opportunity Knocks Fund has underwritten the following:

  • A Trophon High-Level Disinfection Unit for our Medical Imaging department, which has increased patient safety AND saves the department time—which means they can see more patients
  • A new EKG machine for our St. Helena Family Health Center – Clearlake medical office. This gives our cardiologist the latest technology so that patients can receive their tests in real time, rather than having to schedule a separate appointment.
  • Uninsured items like compression garments and bandages for patients who qualify through our Outpatient Rehabilitation Program
  • A SCIFIT Pro 2® along with an X-Box One with Kinect at our Live Well Program. This equipment and technology helps our patients decrease pain and improve mobility.
