Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Welcomes New Administrator

September 9, 2022 (Ukiah, CA) — Adventist Health is pleased to announce that David Leighton, MPA, MHCM, CLSSBB, has been named Administrator of Adventist Health Ukiah Valley. In this role, Leighton will lead the day-to-day work of the hospital and clinics and ensure strategies align with and support administrative, financial, and managerial operations.

Leighton most recently served as Interim Operations Executive and Director of Performance Improvement for Adventist Health in Mendocino County and is certified in Lean Six Sigma process improvement work. He has worked in healthcare leadership since 2006.

“It’s an honor to lead such a professional, patient-focused team, and I look forward to continuing Adventist Health’s rich tradition of serving the people of Ukiah with compassion and care,” said Leighton. “Keeping quality healthcare available locally will always be our top objective, and I’m confident that the shared strategies and synergies afforded by our network structure will help achieve that goal.”

Prior to joining Adventist Health, Leighton was the Chief Operating Officer for Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Richmond, CA. In that role, he was responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the hospital and its associated clinics. Leighton had previously spent more than 20 years in durable goods manufacturing, building and distributing agricultural and heavy industrial machinery. Dave holds a bachelor's degree in business from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA, and master’s degrees in public administration and human capital management.

“David has built devoted connections to the people of Mendocino County through his leadership over many years,” said Judson Howe, President of Adventist Health North Coast Network. “His unique operational perspective will make excellent healthcare accessible to all residents living in the surrounding community.”

As Adventist Health keeps patients at top of mind, they look forward to best serving the community at each hospital with patient-centered care, working together to leverage resources across Mendocino County.
