Prevent Type 2 Diabetes Program for the Community Begins With an Information Session February 4

January 14, 2019 (Sonora, CA) – As many as one in three people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within five years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Adventist Health Sonora is pleased to offer to the community Prevent T2, a National Diabetes Prevention Program that has been proven to help participants succeed in making lifestyle changes leading to better health outcomes.

The goal of the program is to reduce the diagnosis of diabetes in our community by more than 50 percent, through improving food choices, increasing physical activity and weight loss. The program is open to anyone who meets the following criteria:

  • Is available to attend at least 12 of the 25 available meetings throughout the year
  • Is 18 years of age or older
  • Has a body mass index (BMI) of greater than 25Kg/m2
  • Has had a recent blood test indicating prediabetes
  • Or who screens positive for prediabetes by taking a screening test.

Physician referral is not required but is recommended. Enrollment is limited. The program begins with an information session on February 4, 2019 from 5-6 p.m. at the Adventist Health Sonora Live Well Be Well Center conference room, 19747 Greenley Road, Sonora.
