Adventist Health Ukiah Valley Advanced Wound Center Recognized

Awards & Recognition Healogics honored Adventist Health Ukiah Valley’s (AHUV) Advanced Wound Center with the Center of Distinction Award. Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, gives this award to centers that have achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, have patient satisfaction scores higher than 92 percent, and a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days. AHUV surpassed these benchmarks with a 95 percent healing rate and a median of 28 days to heal. Laura McAndrews, Advanced Wound Center Director, sees the great work of this team every day, “It is an honor to receive such an award. We stand proud knowing that this designation is based on patient outcomes. It is a testament to our team’s dedication to evidence based practices and patient-centric care.”

Nearly 6 million patients in America are affected by chronic or non-healing wounds. Every year more than 1 million people with diabetes will develop foot ulcers; 20 to 30 percent of those cases will eventually require amputation. The Advanced Wound Center is taking on these staggering statistics. Using advanced treatment modalities and a case management model, AHUV helps patients heal and improve their quality of life. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is one of the several advanced modalities used to heal patients. HBOT encourages the formation of new blood vessels. Once these vessels develop, cells begin to flow, delivering more oxygen to the affected areas. This creates the optimal environment for the body’s natural healing process to repair the damaged tissue.

AHUV’s Advanced Wound Center is leading the way in advanced wound care, surpassing national standards while healing Mendocino and Lake County residents. The Advanced Wound Center is located at 415 Hospital Drive, Ukiah. For more information on the center and their therapies, call (707) 467-5230.
