Adventist Health Welcomes Dentist Brothers

SANGER – Twin brothers and dentists Bert F. and David M. Engstrom are caring for patients at Adventist Health Medical Office in Sanger.

The brothers, who grew up in Sanger, since the age of 9, have been in private practice together for the past 20 years. Their father was the former Sanger District hospital’s administrator.

They attended Reedley College, then completed undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. They went on to attend medical school at Washington School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Mo.

As you might expect, they are very much alike in many ways. Both attribute their interest in dentistry to spending so much time at the hospital with their father, and say they’re committed to providing the best care for their patients within the limits of what patients can comfortably afford.

They were both presented with the Silver Beaver award from the Boy Scouts Sequoia Council, though in different years. It is a council-level distinguished service award from the Boy Scouts of America and recognizes the community service work of adult volunteers.

“Some people say we think alike,” Bert Engstrom said. For instance, they’ve both had cravings for the same food at the same time, even when they were not together. Or they may make the same comment about a situation to their staff at separate times.

Both are married and have children. Bert has been married for 38 years and has six daughters. David has been married for nine years, and has three children.

The brothers may be reached at Adventist Health Medical Office in Sanger, 1939 S. Academy Ave., at (559) 875-6900.
