Dedicated to Lung Care in Honor of Father

HANFORD – Christine McMillan, a new certified family nurse practitioner (FNP-C) at the Adventist Health Lung Care Center in Hanford, lost her father to lung cancer. Because of her own personal experience with the disease, she’s dedicated her life to helping people quit smoking.

“I treat everyone as I would my father, mother or any other family member,” says McMillan. “I’m not going to tell you what to do, but I am going to help guide you in making informed decisions.”

McMillan has six years of experience as an FNP. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Fresno, where she also earned a Master of Science and graduated with distinction. After earning her master’s, she continued the FNP program at Fresno State. She’s certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

McMillan is assisting Dr. Vishnu Bezwada, pulmonologist at the Lung Care Center, which is among one of the only centers in the Central Valley that offers comprehensive lung care services. It’s a one-stop shop, where insured adults can see a provider and get an X-ray and lab test, if needed, all in the same building. Providers are able to see X-ray results the same day.

Patients are seen at the center for a variety of lung conditions, such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer and more. Because Adventist Health also offers a full-service oxygen equipment service in Hanford, patients can order oxygen tanks and execute their treatment plans a lot faster, as well.

Referrals from primary care physicians and specialists may be made to the Lung Care Center, Hanford Medical Pavilion, 125 Mall Dr., Suite 305 in Hanford, with a phone number of (559) 537-0440.
