CMU med school inaugural class celebrates Match Day

"It's a great feeling," she said with tears in her eyes. "I just don't have the words."

"I told her she was going to get this one. We made a bet this morning. Mom was right," her mother said with a laugh.

Andrew Gharzeddine added, "We would have been grateful no matter where she matched."

Matthew Wolf, 25, of Frankenmuth got his first choice, too. He'll be staying in Saginaw.

"I think it's important to come back and help the community I was raised in," he said. "The program here is phenomenal."

The event took place at the CMU College of Medicine Saginaw Education Building, located at 1632 Stone St., adjacent to Covenant HealthCare. Guest speakers included Dr. George Kikano, dean of the College of Medicine, and Dr. Steve Vance, associate dean of clinical education.
