“Good bacteria and gut health” and diabetes prevention are topics of Castle Medical Center’s wellness seminars in April

Wellness Class:  Preventing Diabetes

One in three people in Hawaii has pre-diabetes. This class is designed for anyone who has been diagnosed by a health professional with pre-diabetes, impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance or metabolic syndrome. Led by Amanda O’Neill, RDN, CDE, CSSD, class participants will learn strategies for healthy eating and increasing physical activity as well as meal planning for pre-diabetes management.

In Sickness & In Health Seminar:  Good Bacteria: The Story of Our Missing Genes and Why You Should Care!

As new science emerges, come hear Darin Gould, MD, share the latest information about gut health, collectively called the “microbiome”. He will discuss how our lifestyle choices affect what types of bacteria thrive, or struggle, and how their story ultimately becomes our story of health or disease.
