San Joaquin Community Hospital Unveils New Name and Mission

News January 25, 2017 (Bakersfield, Calif.) – For more than 100 years, San Joaquin Community Hospital has been an integral part of the Bakersfield community, providing faith-based, whole-person care. As consumer expectations and the healthcare industry have changed and evolved, so have we.

Today we are excited to announce the next chapter in our story. We are embarking on a new brand direction that includes a new name, expanded mission statement and core values that support our vision of transforming the healthcare experience, outcomes and status for our community. Going forward, San Joaquin Community Hospital will be known as “Adventist Health Bakersfield.”

Our new mission statement – Living God’s love by inspiring health, wholeness and hope – broadens our focus from solely caring for the sick to helping communities be healthier. It reflects our heritage of providing physical, mental, and spiritual care and compels us to break down the walls of a traditional health system and extend our reach more deeply into the community.

In addition to our expanded mission, we are introducing a new visual identity that represents the spirituality and fresh optimism of our organization. Our tagline – Together inspired. ™ – speaks to our coming together with the Bakersfield community and the power that connection will have to move our neighbors toward a healthier life.

“Why re-brand? Simply put, it was time for an update. A new visual identity also allows us to share the fact that we are a four-state health system with 20 hospitals, hundreds of clinics and thousands of employees,” said Sharlet Briggs, President and CEO. “By putting “Adventist Health” at the front of our name, we are stating – loud and clear – who we are and what our community can expect when they walk into any of our facilities.”

Adventist Health Bakersfield’s core services includes an acute care hospital, The AIS Cancer Center, three Quest Imaging locations and a partnership with more than 20 physicians that make up the Adventist Health Physicians Network.
