St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake Awards Provider Excellence

Awards & Recognition

Clearlake, Calif.—St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake has honored four outstanding physicians and providers for leadership and excellence in patient care. The providers recognized were Andrew Chinnock, FNP; John Clarke, CRNA; Mark Cooper, DDS; and John Weeks, MD.

The four providers were selected as recipients of the award by St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake’s Medical Executive Committee and were recognized at a quarterly medical staff meeting on March 22. “These four providers are models of what the medical profession should be,” explained Pari Azari, MD, chief of medical staff and medical director of the Live Well Program. “We are grateful to work alongside them and to recognize their incredible service to our patients and community with these awards.”

Andrew Chinnock, FNP, is a primary care provider who works at the St. Helena Family Health Center – Clearlake and sees patients for pain management with Azari. Chinnock recently took on an administrative role working with the advanced practice providers (family nurse practitioners and physician assistants) who provide outpatient care, helping train and orient new providers and improving clinic processes. “Andrew received the Clinic Leadership awarded because he is always eager to find ways to improve our care delivery so we can better serve our patients,” said Azari.

John Clarke, CRNA, was awarded for providing excellence in patient care. As a certified registered nurse anesthetist, Clarke works closely with the surgery team at St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake. Many patients share how John successfully put them at ease before a surgical procedure. “It is a privilege to have worked with him for many years and to see his kindness toward each patient,” said Arthur Bikangaga, MD, general surgeon.

Mark Cooper, DDS, is dental medical director for St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake. The longtime local dentist was honored by the medical staff with the second annual Community Leadership award. “Mark has a deep heart for the community and has created an incredible legacy,” said Marc Shapiro, MD, as he presented Cooper with the award. Cooper was recognized for decades of leadership on statewide and local health initiatives, as well as his work to establish the Konocti Wellness Center, the first school-based clinic in a rural setting in California, and a state-of-the-art dental clinic at the St. Helena Family Health Center – Clearlake.

An Outstanding Leadership and Guidance award was presented to John Weeks, MD. Weeks, like Cooper, has served the Lake County community for decades. He served as chief of medical staff four times and currently serves as medical director for the recruitment and retention committee. “John has provided patient, wise leadership during many tumultuous times,” said Paula Dhanda, MD.
