Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley Marks Day 1 with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Community Partnerships TEHACHAPI, CA—Nov. 1, 2016— It’s official! The transaction between Adventist Health and the Tehachapi Valley Health District (TVHD) is complete!

A ribbon-cutting event was held on Tuesday, Nov. 1 to celebrate the first day of this new partnership. More than 100 people were in attendance – representatives from Adventist Health, San Joaquin Community Hospital, TVHD, the City of Tehachapi, Chamber of Commerce, AHTV employees and more – to witness this symbolic gesture.

This step comes after nearly two years of dedicated teamwork by SJCH, Adventist Health, TVHD and the Tehachapi community at large to take over operations of the current facility as construction continues on the new, 25-bed critical access hospital. Adventist Health will also manage the three rural health clinics in Tehachapi, Mojave and California City.

Signage at the existing hospital has also been changed to its new name: Adventist Health Medical Center: Tehachapi Valley. Adventist Health is a faith-based, not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system with 20 hospitals (Tehachapi is the 20th) in four states: California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington.

Completion of the new hospital is expected soon and doors will be open to patients in 2017. Plans are underway for community celebration and grand opening of the new AHTV facility; details about that event will be shared in the future.
