Adventist HealthIt's National Nutrition Month and we'll be providing a new recipe each week. Check back next week for our dinner recipe.
Lunch – Vegan Pizza
We tend to think of pizza as an unhealthy indulgence. But it doesn’t have to be that way! With a few tweak your pizza can turn into a healthy meal.
A lot of people may be skeptical about using a vegan cheese, and it can take a little bit of getting used to. But if you’ve ever tried the oven fired pizzas in our LivingWell Bistro then you know that a vegan cheese can actually be quite good!
Let us know what you think in the comments (even if you’re not a fan).
Ingredients
- 4 each (6- 8 inch) Whole wheat Pita Slices
- 1 jar prepared pizza sauce (look for an option with no added sugar)
- 8 oz. bag Daiya Cheese
- ½ cup of your favorite veggies (mushrooms, peppers, olives, etc.) Share your favorite combination below.
- Fresh basil for topping
Preparation
Pre heat oven to 400 degrees. Spread pizza sauce on pita, sprinkle on cheese and toppings and cook pizza for 5- 10 minutes or until crust crispy and cheese is melted.
