Breakfast – Smoothie

A smoothie can be the ideal start to your day. Smoothies are quick and easy to make and, if you use the right ingredients, can give you a great start in getting the recommended daily services of fruits and veggies.

There are several great lists of smoothie recipes from places like the Food Network and Everyday Health. Our favorite is the simple green smoothie recipe below.

As you get more comfortable with smoothies you'll quickly find that you don't need a "recipe." Many times the best smoothies includes whatever fruits and veggies are already around. That said, the recipe below is a great start. Then you can move on to adding some of the other ingredients listed below.

Green Smoothie

  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 3 cups spinach or greens of your liking
  • ½ cup strawberries or fruit of your liking

Blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy.

Other ingredients to try

  • Chia seeds
  • Flaxseed
  • Beets, peeled and chopped
  • Almond milk (instead of orange juice)
  • Tofu
