A Heart for Healthcare

Physicians

Shimeaka Hodges, a new certified physician assistant at Adventist Health / Community Care – Taft, remembers when she was a Medi-Cal patient seeking care.

“The doctors were always nice and thorough,” she says. “I told myself one day, I would like to do the same for people who can’t afford health care.”

The Bakersfield native has been a physician assistant specializing in family medicine for nearly six years.

She was encouraged to seek this field by one of her professors at California State Bakersfield, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. Hodges then graduated from the physician assistant program at San Joaquin Valley College in Visalia.

In her free time, she enjoys serving the community and spending time with family, including her church family.

Hodges may be reached at Community Care – Taft, 501 6th St., with a phone number of (661) 763-5131.
