Expanding Surgical Services in Selma

Two board-certified surgeons have joined the community and will care for patients at Adventist Health Physicians Network Selma and Community Care – Selma.

Dr. Mohammad Khan is a general surgeon, and Dr. Jeffrey Spychalski is an orthopaedic surgeon who will care for patients with sports-related injuries, fractures and other knee and hip issues.

“We’re excited to have these experienced surgeons here in Selma to care for our community and region,” said Nina Plata, vice president of Adventist Medical Center – Selma. “Adventist Health is committed to expanding high-quality services for our community. In addition to bringing new physicians, we’re adding intensive care services and expanding emergency and surgical services at our Selma hospital.”

Dr. Mohammad Khan

Dr. Khan is looking forward to building relationships in the community. He was born in Lahore, Pakistan, where he attended Allama Iqbal Medical College. He then moved to the United States to complete his residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York, NY. Most recently, Dr. Khan served as a general surgeon at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY, performing a full range of general surgery, including laparoscopic, breast, colon, gall bladder, appendix and hernia surgeries. Dr. Khan is married and has a daughter who is attending St. John’s College in Queens, NY, to become a physician. In his free time, Dr. Khan enjoys traveling, golfing and playing cricket. He speaks English, Punjabi and Urdu.

Dr. Spychalski is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He knew he was destined to pursue a career in the medical field because he always excelled in science. After graduating from high school, Dr. Spychalski attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and graduated summa cum laude. He then attended Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating cum laude. Dr. Spychalski completed residency and fellowship training at University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. Before arriving to the Central Valley, he was performing sports medicine-related surgeries in Torrance, Calif., including knee and hip replacements. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golfing and baking.
