GAMC Offering Free Mammograms During October

Breast Cancer Awareness

LOS ANGELES, CA – Free mammograms will be available during the month of October for the first 100 callers at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. The mammograms will be offered on a first come, first serve basis and must be completed by October 30, 2015.

Mammograms are the best method to detect breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. All women starting at age 40 should get yearly mammograms. The best protection is early detection.

To be eligible for the free mammograms, women must:

  • Be at least 40 years of age.
  • Have no known breast abnormalities (including cancer), implants or silicone injections.
  • Not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Have had a previous mammogram more than one year ago from the time of the appointment.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 234,190 women and 2,350 men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year.
